Hello everyone,
I was thinking about taking Microbiology over the summer. If you had taken it, how was your experience? How many weeks did you take it within? 6 week or 8 week session? Difficulty? I need help please!

Hi there, I did not take Microbiology over the summer, but I did take A&P in a six week summer session. I think that doing any of your lab sciences in a consolidated format is going to be intense, but if it were impossible, the school would likely not offer them. In my experience with A&P, I actually really liked taking the class in the summer because I was always in the zone. Yes, there will be work/family commitments going on, but (hopefully!) it's the only class you're taking, so you can devote all of your study time to that course. It's a full time job, but you can do it! Good luck!

i took micro during summertime, it was 8 weeks. It went by pretty fast. You will most likely be going over 1 chapter in a day or two so you have to be on your toes when it comes to reading. You should expect to spend plenty of time in lab as this is where you practice some skills and can ask or help. it was some busy work I was mostly reading and studying everyday, I did take small breaks in between my studying time. It is definitely doable if you set your mind to it and do not mind the constant studying grind. If you have friends who want to hang out during summer you have to realize that if you're taking micro you may have to limit your time with them. It's fine to go out every once in a while granted you finished reading or studying. I personally did not see mine every often but I did occasionally when I felt like it won't hinder my studying. The summer I took micro I was studying constantly despite the fact that I had my aunt and cousins roaming around the house. there will be exams almost every 2 ish weeks or so approximately. You have to be caught up on reading or beyond a little because this is fast paced compared to a normal 16 week semester.
I don't think there would be any problem taking micro over the summer session if you are determined and can handle the back to back study and reading every day. It seems tiring at some point answering all the questions on the study guide and etc. but your efforts does truly show on your test scores and grade.
Good luck
