Microbiology Study Advice

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello all,

I'm currently enrolled in an 8 week Microbiology course. 2 times a week, 6 hours each time. It's definitely information overload! (I know- Nothing compared to nursing school)

I'm having a hard time right now. Our first exam is on the third day of class. 100 questions, half short answer and half mult choice. Only 60 min to take it 😁😁

I was just wondering if anyone would like to share some awesome study tips or advice? I need some inspiration, and some help getting through this.

Thanks all :)

Hey happy, how are you doing so far???

Pretty well so far! I'm half way through the class now, and I have a low A. It's very intense, and I spend a lot of time studying my flashcards :) I'm worried for my next exam this Thursday, but hopefully I can do well on it!

Awesome! What's your next exam over? We have one tomorrow over antimicrobial drugs, principles of disease and epidemiology, and microbial mechanisms of pathogenicity. PARTY! LOL We have two weeks left. Can't wait to be done.

I just recently took micro in a 3.5 week course. Yes you read that correctly. I had class mon-fri for 6 hours each day. The good thing about taking it in a shorter session is there isn't time to forget and procrastinate. The best thing you can do is not miss lectures or labs for any reason. Study, study, and study some more. I struggled with some of the material and still came out with a B...I should add I also have a family at home so it wasn't easy. Another thing, choose your lab group WISELY!! Good luck!

My lab partner has several friends that took micro in a short course like that as well.

Party for sure, woot woot!! Mine is over pretty much the same things as yours (with a few differences of course) I have three weeks left, thank goodness!! I am so ready to be done with this class, and enjoy my two weeks left I'll have of summer :)

That is so CRAZY! I took a statistics course that was 10 days long and it about killed me off, lol! I cannot imagine having a family to take care of during this class, and I'm in an 8 week course! Kudos to you :)

Honestly it was nuts. I lived and breathed micro lol. It was rough on my family but it went by fast!

i'm starting Microbiology this fall, this thread has been really helpful!!

I have one week left... we have an exam Thursday, our unknown lab project begins tomorrow, then final is next thursday. I can maintain an A in the course if I get a 90 on this exam and the project, and get a 70 on my final... crossing my fingers! I;m sooooo ready to be done with it and stop dreaming about immunity...

How are you coming along OP?

My last day is next Thursday! I have two quizzes, a group project, exam four, and the final left. Exam four is Tuesday, and our final is next Thursday 😁 I only need a 60 on my exam 4 & a 60 on the final to get a B (yay!) But I need in the 80's on both to get an A. I've been studying hard, so hopefully I can pull out an A :)

Good luck to you!!! I am also ready to stop relating everything to micro, and to stop dreaming about immunity haha :)
