Had two questions regarding Microbiology.

1. How difficult/time consuming would you rate your study effort in this class compared with Anatomy & Physiology 101/102?

2. The college I am looking at has a chemistry pre-requisite for the class. How much chemistry do you need to know for Microbiology?

Thanks,

When I took micro I hadn't had chemistry since 10th grade, which had been like 13 years. Like others said, it really depends on your instructor. I'd ask around at your school from people who have had the teachers you are going to take!! You may have to work a little harder if you have to read extra chemistry background but I didn't have to do that.

I got A's in micro and A&P and they were both challenging, but my A&P was much more time-consuming. The way my teachers did it, you had to really grasp a lot of conceptual info in all three classes. My A&P teachers did a lot of physiology - I'd say almost as much as I'm doing in my pathophysiology class in my BSN program now. Mine was not just a bunch of memorization of parts like high school A&P. I'd say mine was more 50/50 with physiological concepts.

My .02......

A & P for me was all memorization... that is hard for some people, easy for others.

General Micro (I'm in now) *so far* seems okay, not hard and no major chemistry. I just need to study MORE!! LOL! The pre-req for my school for this class was Bio 100 - Path. Micro has no pre reqs (but it doesn't transfer so I imagine that it's easier)

I recommend you check out http://www.ratemyprofessors.com

log on and give bits of info about a prof. which can be helpful if you are trying to decide on a certain class...... it's also fun!! SLAM that mean teacher you had last semester! LOL! Just kidding!
