Microbiology & A&P Together

Published

Hello everyone! I hope all is well. I will be taking my last 2 pre req's before I take my teas test and may be admitted into nursing school. The two classes I will be taking that I've already registered my self for is microbiology and anatomy and physiology. I've taken A&P before, but I am retaking it to enhance my points for great eligibility into getting in into nursing school. I know what to expect from A&P, however I don't from micro. My question is will this be a really difficult task? Has anyone taken these two classes together. I would like some insight please. Thank you all in advance! ☺

I am taking Micro and A&P II in the spring, in addition to another class. If you've already taken A&P, then you will most likely be reviewing vs. learning from scratch, so it sounds doable, especially if the classes span a full semester. I would just schedule your sciences on different days so your tests don't fall on the same dates.

I just finished taking both this past semester. I agree with the previous poster about scheduling. I was fortunate to never have class or tests on the same day. Most people seem to do better in one more than the other. Imo, microbiology was the most difficult pre requisite I've taken. A&P was fun and easy for me. However, since you've already taken A&P once it shouldn't be too bad. I did fine as long as I kept up with my studying, at least a few hours a day. And I do mean everyday. If you get behind your going to be miserable trying to catch up. (If you can't tell I'm a chronic procrastinator :sarcastic:) it will be a tough semester for sure but you can do it. Good luck! (If you have questions feel free to ask)

I took Physiology & Micro in the same semester (both were on the same days, too). Definitely do-able if you're strong in science. Just stay organized :)

Taking them together is tough, but doable. Make sure you have a lot of study time set aside!

What should I expect with anatomy and physiology??

Lots of memorization!

Lots of memorization!

Especially for the anatomy portion. Physiology there is some memorization, but definitely leans more to being able to comprehend the concepts being taught. The analogy I came up with at the beginning of this semester and after finishing my physiology class believe in it even more is comparing anatomy and physiology to a car. Anatomy is like knowing the different parts of the car, the engine, the engine block the cylinders and such. Physiology is understanding how the different parts of the engine actually make the car run and how the different parts of the engine and even other systems of the car affect one another.

Good day:

In our Spring 2014 (January through May) semester, I took AP II, Life Cycle Development, Microbiology, and Nutrition (14 credits); it was extremely hard, but very doable if you are good with time management, can be disciplined about your study time, and make every class and lab.

Thank you.
