Microbiology before A&P

Published

Hello everyone!

I am currently registered to take Microbiology in the Spring 2015. The reason that I am taking this course before A&P is because the A&P classes were wait listed while Microbiology was open. I took Biology and Chemistry in the Spring 2014 and these were the prerequisites to get into Microbiology.

My question is:

  • Was this a good idea?
  • Will I struggle more because I went straight into Microbiology before A&P?
  • Any study tips you can recommend?
  • Or should I drop the class because Anatomy & Physiology will build the foundation for Microbiology?

I appreciate all the feed back!

Thank you!:cat:

I'm taking microbiology now (it's my last prereq). At my school A&P 1 and 2 are prereqs to micro.

One more thing is that we've been told by most of our professors that anatomy and physiology provides a foundation for micro, hence, we have to take those before.

I took them at the same time. I personally thought it made it a little easier since we talked about the immune system in A&P first very thoroughly and then in basic terms in Micro. however I did have to put in a leave of absence at my job to keep up with the coursework for both classes!

I would say don't knock until till you try it! you might find it easy.

make sure you don't simply memorize concepts but also that you understand! good luck:)

I haven't heard of A&P being a prereq for micro but it's been awhile since I've been in school. I think I took micro and A&P1 in the same semester. I wouldn't drop it. Just get the class over with!:)
