I still need to take two nursing pre-requisites, Microbiology and Anatomy&Physiology. I work full time and will be taking the courses online. I only have time to do one at a time, so I will be taking one in the spring and one in the summer. Do you have any recommendations about which to take first?
Thanks!

Are you sure the A&P is not a 2 semester series? Not that it can't happen, but I've never heard of a nursing school only requiring 1 sem of A&P. Check into that.
At my school, A&P I & II are prereqs for Micro. I don't know why that is, but it is.
I'm taking A&P I and College Algebra now. I'm taking the algebra class on-line and am really struggling. My A&P I class meets twice a week and I'm breezing thru it. I've scored over 100% on all of the exams and practical (my instructor offers extra credit points). I do not think that I would do as well with an online class - you get so much more out of attending class, listening to lectures, and asking questions. If possible, take your science courses in a traditional classroom setting.
To answer your question, I would go with A&P first. It's a great class, very interesting. Good luck and have fun!

Take the micro course first. A&Ps should be taken close to the semester you will enter nursing school. Nursing school involves a lot of strength in A&P. Good luck!!

My school requires one year of life science courses before taking microbio, so almost everyone takes A&P first since most don't have their year of life science done until after those classes. Not sure if or how much of a difference it makes taking classes in that particular order, though, since I have not taken microbio yet. But good luck!

I don't think taking one before the other would make much difference. I'm taking A&P 1 and Microbiology together right now and think I would have done absolutely fine in either without the other, if that makes sense. I have taken General Biology previously though, so that may make a difference.
And yes, do check prereqs for Microbiology to be sure. I just remembered my school does require a life science before Micro can be taken. In addition to Gen. Biology I've also taken Nutrition and Diet Therapy (a 3 cr. class) plus Chemistry so my opinion on whether you should take one before the other (or not) may be skewed! :)
