Central Mich. Anyone?

U.S.A. Michigan

I was wondering if any of you worked for Mid-Michigan Regional Medical Center. Particularly Gladwin, Midland, or Clare. I am starting my clinicals in the fall and am probably going to be in this area most. I would love to go into OB. But am not sure about the requirements and such for this area. Since I live in this area and do not want to uproot my kids and husband, I will probably be looking for employment at one of these three places anyway. I was wondering also if it would be more beneficial to get my RN. I noticed that a lot of the job postings are for RN. What is the starting wage? And do you like it? I have had very positive feedback when recieving medical care from the nursing staffs in Midland and Gladwin, but have never really had any encounters at all with Clare. I feel that the nurses here are just great. Thank you for any help. I really appreciate it.

Hello fellow Michigander! I can't help much with your questions as I don't live in your area. About the RN question--you'll have to see what your area hospitals are doing with LPNs. In my neck of the woods, you can't get a hospital job unless you're an RN. Good luck!

Hello neighbor! live in Mt. Pleasant if you have the chance to get your rn do it. I have been an lpn for 5 yrs. trying to figure out how to go back to school kicking myself for not going right on to Rn. Not only is the pay better but you have many more job oppertunities especially if you want to work in ob. :p

Thank you for answering my post. I am planning on going through till I have my RN. I have noticed that in this area, hospitals want to hire RN's. I know how hard it is to go back to school. I made the decision 3 years ago. At the time, my children were 3, 6, and 7. It has been a long haul. But I know it will be worth it in the end. Thanks again for answering. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one on here from the area.
