U.S.A. Florida

Hi all from a native Oregonian! My husband will be starting a new job near Miami (Miramar (sp?)). I am an ICU nurse of three yrs and now must start the job hunt. Am looking for hospital recommendations from fellow nurses! I looked into taking a travel job as my first job down there as I might get a feel for a hospital first. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I hope you enjoy Miami it will be a lot different from Oregon...:o :uhoh21:

I always feel so strange when I hear that people are moving here since so many are leaving.

I live in Miami Lakes which is about 5 minutes from SW Miramar, which is considered new Miramar, as there are two different sections. I like the area and there are some great state of the art facilities in the area. Memorial West Hosptial and the newest Memorial Hospital Miramar. For more info visit http://www.mhs.net.

Other note worthy facilities are Jackson Memorial Hospital, Mercy, and Baptist...but these are located in Miami. I hope things will work out for you.

Memorial Hospital Miramar is very nice --- new facility with advanced technology, all computer charting, and had 97% customer service satisfaction...or so they told us in orientation!

Let me know if you want to apply. I'm also working at Memorial but at Memorial Regional Hospital's ICU. Great Benefits, $5000 sign-on bonus, additional $5000 for night shift, and more for referrals...

Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you a referral number.

If I were you I'd look for a MAGNET status hospital--- there are several in Miami and would definitely be worth the drive from Miramar.

Not to take the wind out of your sails but-------------Oregon sounds a whole lot better of a place to live than South Florida. I'll be VERY happy when I see Miami in my rearview mirror.
