Has anyone graduated from ITT tech Nursing program and found a job? Or have you had any problems? I know that ITT tech is high in tuition and that their credits do not transfer to most other colleges. I am aware of the bad reputation but they have NO reputation when it comes to their nursing program. I can't find a thing that would help me in my decisions making online about nursing graduates.
As of now I have been accepted to Mt hood community college LPN program that starts march 29th 2010 but would love to obtain my BSN in one shot if possible. I currently know that pcc, clackamas community college, mt hood community college, concordia, and others do not offer advanced placement of LPNs or bridge programs. In fact in the washington Oregon area there are only three known schools to allow LPNs addmission into second year nursing. CAN ANYONE HELP???

Stay away from ITT Tech. The nursing administrators and educators at the hospital where I work are very disturbed about ITT's program. They refused to endorse it when asked to do so by ITT. I know they will not hire any nurses with 'degrees' from there. Be warned.

I do know that Lower Columbia Community College offers a LPN to RN bridge program and they ONLY accept LPN courses from Mt Hood Community College (I know because I called and asked). Did you start the LPN program or go with ITT Tech?
I forgot to add that LCCC is in Longview, WA but most of their courses are online, but their summer term is on campus during your last year. Hope this helps.
yeah i talked to lower columbia and they don't require any work experience if you apply for the campus based classes which are five days a week. They require 1000 work experience as an lpn when you apply for the long distance online learning base.
I would like to update this post and say that i am successfully graduating from MHCC LPN program. It was difficult and fast paced but i am happy with my decision. The classes were all online with no lecture, or face to face time. There was no instruction from teachers other then the demos we received in labs which met once a week for a few weeks each term.
There was a lot of technical errors on the instructors part and there was quit a bit of drama between instructors which effected students. It was very problematic and stressful not because of the work but mostly due to the lack of stability, instruction, demeaning behavior, and belittling comments. I understand the importance of being tough on students to learn the material but there is a fine line of difference between that behavior and what many students experience throughout this program. I have had contact and communication with previous graduates. I would encourage you to message me or post here any questions you may have.
When I took my concerns to a counselor at the college they told me that they couldn't help me. That upon entering a nursing program I was leaving the normal educational system and that the rules and expectations of students are dictated by the instructors. The instructors have the right to do and change things as they see fit.
My words of of caution are that when you enter a nursing program you are leaving the educational system behind, you are leaving behind reason, ethics, logic, and your pride. You have to be willing to submit to the will of the instructors and take what you can from the experience.
How long was the mhcc lpn program?
The program starts in spring term so the new class will start on April 28th and it ends.. well now. So the graduating class last term is winter term. All together it is 4 terms.

First of all.. ITT Tech is Accredited by The NLN. Secondly.. once you get your license you can work at a large.. number of places. Maybe she does not want to work for a hospital that is more like a sorority then an hospital. Anyone who has their licensed gets retrained on the job anyway. I would never want to work at an establishment that did not honor my license as a professional. Who are the people you work for to pick and choose where others want to attend school? We don't live in a communist society the last time I checked. Not everyone chooses or wants to walk the same path.. and that is not wrong. It shows they can think for themselves. If people are willing to wait less and pay more.. so be it. Many establishes are looking for good caring nurses and once you have you license you don't need one establishments BS. You can take it down the road!If everyone learned to be more positive and supportive this world and working environments would be a much better and happier place to live and work.
