  1. I want to leave an updated post to this thread for anyone that stumbles across it like myself. Let me start by saying that i had my LPN and major nursing education from Oregon over 5 years ago before coming to Utah to bridge over to get my RN-BSN. So I took NCLEX June 7th 2016 at 1:30pm and finished around 100 questions (i wasn't keeping track) and finished around 3pm. I didn't study and had waited over a month since graduation to go take the test and felt like the test kicked my butt. I walked out feeling awful like i didn't know anything and felt like i utterly failed. So i kept checking the utah DOPL and FYI for all you new NCLEX takers the DOPL doesn't update their website until 11:30pm!!!!! After reading this thread and one or two other comments online about passing NCLEX in Utah everyone was saying how their nursing license was instantly updated on the DOPL within 24 hours of taking the test so when my nursing license didn't show up within the 24 hour winodw i assumed i had failed. I desperately wanted to confirm my worst fears of failing and so then i was left wtih Pearson Vue Quick results which showed up EXACTLY 48 hours from the time i started the test and it confirmed that i had passed NCLEX! So for anyone reading these posts i don't want you to get discouraged just because your license hasn't posted to DOPL. As for the PVT I looked into it and decided that $200 was too much to risk losing on a "trick" and that i would just have to suffer and wait it out for the quick results to post and pay the $7.95. I am so relieved that i passed and waited for the quick results and just have to wait for DOPL to issue my RN license now for it to be official.
  2. The program starts in spring term so the new class will start on April 28th and it ends.. well now. So the graduating class last term is winter term. All together it is 4 terms.
  3. I would like to update this post and say that i am successfully graduating from MHCC LPN program. It was difficult and fast paced but i am happy with my decision. The classes were all online with no lecture, or face to face time. There was no instruction from teachers other then the demos we received in labs which met once a week for a few weeks each term. There was a lot of technical errors on the instructors part and there was quit a bit of drama between instructors which effected students. It was very problematic and stressful not because of the work but mostly due to the lack of stability, instruction, demeaning behavior, and belittling comments. I understand the importance of being tough on students to learn the material but there is a fine line of difference between that behavior and what many students experience throughout this program. I have had contact and communication with previous graduates. I would encourage you to message me or post here any questions you may have. When I took my concerns to a counselor at the college they told me that they couldn't help me. That upon entering a nursing program I was leaving the normal educational system and that the rules and expectations of students are dictated by the instructors. The instructors have the right to do and change things as they see fit. My words of of caution are that when you enter a nursing program you are leaving the educational system behind, you are leaving behind reason, ethics, logic, and your pride. You have to be willing to submit to the will of the instructors and take what you can from the experience.
  4. CuriouseME, Thank you for using critical thinking skills and a professional approach to addressing this thread. I was gone for this last year completing my first year of nursing school and reading some of the posts now was very disappointing. I didn't expect to see that people miss understood my intentions of providing information. Thank you for having an open mind and attempting to clarify. In response to peoples miss understanding my intentions on here concerning ITT tech, i never thought it was a terrible school I personally would never over pay for my education and i would never limit my ability to continue my education at an affordable price. Oregon is an OCNE run nursing program state which means that if you aren't OCNE approved school then your nursing credits will not transfer. This leads to the ITT tech students only being able to transfer to other for profit colleges. I was never able to get an ITT rep to tell me how much tuition was or give me any information over the phone, i had a terrible time finding information on their web site and the reps just kept trying to sign me up for the information seminars. However when i contact other schools local to the area and OCNE approved they are more than willing to share any information with me without getting me to come into an information session. I hope this information helps someone out there trying to make a decision.
  5. MHCC RN program is roughly around $13,000 for two years of nursing i can't rationalize spending over $30,000 a year for ITT. Even though mhcc lpn program is roughtly $5,500 a year I hope that EVERYONE reading these posts PLEASE remember one very important thing and that is to go to rate my professor.com and check out what current students are saying about the programs and instructors. You can go to the web sites of the colleges and find out who the contact person is that you need to email to get a list of instructors names, or course catalogs will have the names as well. I thought that getting into a nursing program was the most exciting thing and it was the most exciting news i had received but looking back at it now i would have checked out the professors ahead of time and not chosen this particular program.
  6. yeah i talked to lower columbia and they don't require any work experience if you apply for the campus based classes which are five days a week. They require 1000 work experience as an lpn when you apply for the long distance online learning base.
  7. Oregon is a great place but with 15 nursing schools in the small populated area we have and the minimal spaces in hospitals we are starting to get so over saturated with new grads Most people i know who are in school or have graduated still havent found jobs here and are starting to look out of state, but hey they got their license so thats the key. Concordia called today and told me to be checking my mail for return letters in about two weeks. PCC still hasnt sent anything.
  8. I got something in the mail today from PCC saying that they want me to turn in my financial aid information before they can process me. I have never received anything like this from them before and i have been putting them on my financial aid for the last two application cycles. I haven't heard back from them yet as to if i was accpted to their nursing program, have an interview or am denied. Last i heard i will get something in the mail sometime in april.
  9. I was considering ITT Tech as well but they are so new to oregon that it is going to be a long time before employers like OHSU will recognize them. I contacted OHSU to see if they would even allow for ITT tech grads to transfer their credits to get a bachelors and they said no. I couldn't find anything online about the program in other states, no forums had anything good to say about the program and overall they charge roughly double what you would pay at Concordia or OHSU. ITT tech also requires that you take the HESI or something like it, i was going to go to the information session but it was over 2 hours and it really shouldn't be that long. If the school reps can't tell me the tuition cost, will the credits transfer (in this case they don't) and so on then its just bs in my opinion.
  10. It brakes my heart to know that this girl with a gpa of 3.2 has been accepted to fall term at U of P
  11. Is this concordia in Oregon?
  12. GOOD LUCK on the interviews.... The questions that are asked durring the school interviews are mostly along the lines of the same as to a job interview. My interview questions for mhcc program were the same as when i applied and got my job with Kaiser and that was "if you caught a class mate cheating durring an exam how would you handle it?" its the same as the job side "if you knew one of your co-workers was stealing from the hospital how would you deal with it?" The most religous question i was asked was "how do you anticipate to work with patients who differ in ethnicity and religious expectations" I was asked that same question durring an interview i had with providence and adventist. another question i was asked durring interview/essay was "why do you want to be a nurse or what do you hope to gain-accomplish", I just answered everything honestly and i got my acceptance to the lpn program and i start at the end of this month. Of course I'm still waiting for the letters to come back from PCC, concordia and clackamas community. My girl friend who is currently in Concordias nursing program said that this is the first year they are doing the interviews and that 22 students have already been confirmed into the nursing program that are already currently attending Concordia. I looked on the web site today and talked with someone admissions office because this waiting is killing me financially. The women told me the same information that is on the web site, that all letters of acceptance to the program will be mailed out on and after April 15th once the applications have been fully processed, otherwise saying once the interviews are done.
  13. I saw that concordia cashed the check i wrote them but i still haven't heard anything from them through email or mail..
  14. Has anyone graduated from ITT tech Nursing program and found a job? Or have you had any problems? I know that ITT tech is high in tuition and that their credits do not transfer to most other colleges. I am aware of the bad reputation but they have NO reputation when it comes to their nursing program. I can't find a thing that would help me in my decisions making online about nursing graduates. As of now I have been accepted to Mt hood community college LPN program that starts march 29th 2010 but would love to obtain my BSN in one shot if possible. I currently know that pcc, clackamas community college, mt hood community college, concordia, and others do not offer advanced placement of LPNs or bridge programs. In fact in the washington Oregon area there are only three known schools to allow LPNs addmission into second year nursing. CAN ANYONE HELP???
