Published

Hello, this is my first year applying to nursing schools. I applied to pretty much most of the OCNE schools for nursing. Anyone can chime in with stats, questions or updates!

MHCC sent an email today

Did you got in? I'm on the alternate list.

Yes! But I was on the alternate list last year and was not called, you get more points for the next year you apply.

Congrats!

Thank you! MHCC does call most alternates so stay tuned!

Any updates on OHSU? Alternates maybe?

My friend got into OHSU-Klamath Falls. And I was placed on the alternate list, still waiting to hear back. The deadline to accept your spot is June 15th, trying to be patient until then...

Specializes in CNA.

I just got an email saying I'm in the top 15 alternates at CCC after being told in the email from May 21 that I was not in the top 15. Anybody else have this happen? I've accepted a spot at PCC so it's not a biggie, I just thought it was a bit odd. Maybe they expanded their cohort size?

I did not had that issue. That's a bit odd and glad you brought it up! I only had one email which mentioned that I'm in the top 15.

I only received one email as well that I was in the top 15. Maybe some alternates or accepted students declined their spot which bumped you up to the top 15? You were probably an alternate in the late teens or twenties?

Question for you all-

I was accepted to a nursing program and my plan as of right now is to continue to work at my job as a CNA. However I know it is hard to do so since nursing school does take up a lot of your time. Is anyone else going to continue to work while in school? Or know students in the past and their experience with going to nursing school and working??? Let me know please. Thanks.

Hi I know friends who went through nursing school, continued to work (part time and closer to full time hours) and graduated nursing school just fine. My friends say nursing school is like a full time job, so if you can you shouldn't work, but if you need to work it's doable with LOTS of dedication.

Those who were at the clackamas community college zoom orientation. I am an alternate and I was not able to attend the meeting. Am I supposed to do anything? I was an alternate for mhcc last year and they told us alternates don't do anything (submit paperwork etc) until they are officially offered a spot in the program. Is it the same with clackamas? Please let me know, and any insight would be helpful if you attended the orientaion. Thanks ?

Any other accepted/alternate students feeling a little overwhelmed after the mandatory zoom orientations ?
