Hey!
Has anyone else applied to this program?! Just got an email that my application was being processed!!
Congrats to everyone!
Just wondering, has anyone been "rejected"? I have read posts in the past and there hasn't been a mention of it, instead tons of people being "waitlisted".
Last year I was "waitlisted" then "rejected" after finding out classes are full, just wondering if I actually have a shot being "waitlisted" again or if MGHIHP doesn't formally do rejections until closer to the school year.
I applied to the PA program and got flat out rejected last year. Had a change of heart this year and thought I would go for NP this time around. I can't imagine they are much different in the way they notify students? when did you find out last year about being fully " rejected' ... just wondering what the time line is for this situation as I have full blown anxiety now!
I with you on that anxiety train wilson1314, I think we should plan a date to binge on Disney movies and ice cream
I wasn't ever formally "rejected" but MGH emailed me a few days before the semester start stating that classes were full and everyone in the waitlist was "released" (pretty much saying that you officially have no chance for entering that year).
That being said, I applied to a few more direct entry programs as "back up", but graduate schools are so competitive nowadays.. I'm just praying for a miracle! But I always have plan Bs Cs and Ds in case Life is too precious to dwell on something we can't change
I can't imagine they are much different?
There is actually a big difference between the two disciplines (medical and nursing) in terms of how you see patients and the attitude towards care you provide. PAs are trained under the medical model which tends to have more of a focus on the disease process itself. Nursing tends to be a bit more holistic, seeing patients as having roles outside that of illness, and illness as having an effect on the ability to fulfill those roles. Does it change that I'm going to order a z-pack for an infection? Not necessarily. But the approach is different. :) sorry, just chiming in again! I'm quite passionate about this and about people understanding the fundamental differences; my ABSN cohort was full of people who had applied for PA but not been successful and it was a pet peeve of mine when this came up heh.
ETA- also there's a huge difference in terms of regulatory oversight and licensure (PAs work under a physician's license as opposed to NPs who have their own licenses), independence in practice versus mandated oversight (varies state by state for NPs).
Wishing you nothing but good news moving forward from this, and a meaningful journey into NP life!

Congratz everyone as well! And Blessingoverflow best of luck to you next year, here are my stats or credentials (not sure what to call them), I am in for adult gero and waiting to hear on the scholarship amount before making my decision between here and columbia
- I'm actually still in undergrad i go to Boston U.
My GPA is about a 3.45, but my prereq GPA is actually only about a 3.1 (maybe even less, I didn't get any A's in them except for Microbio and nutrition)
GRE I had a 4.5 in writing and a 157 R and 162 Q
Experience: I work part time as an EMT and worked as a medical scribe for the Boston Marathon - aside from that most of my work has been in non profits.
WhaleThen ! I am also probably going to decide between here and Columbia. I still have yet to hear from Upenn, but I know the program is extremely competitive so am thinking I won't get in. What are your current thoughts between the two? And if anyone else is in a similar type of situation, please feel free to chime in! :)

I'm in for AGNP but no mention of a scholarship! I will more than likely be going to Boston College!
