hi everyone! :loveya:
if anyone out there works at metrohealth medical center in cleveland, ohio, can you please share your thoughts on working there as a new graduate rn? i absolutely love the people i met during the interview process, but they do not offer the same tuition assistance that other area hospitals do. total bummer. however, from those of you who work there...what do you honestly think about it? any floors in particular that one should avoid or perhaps aim to work on? would love your input! :)
thanks so much!

I am not an RN (yet!) but growing up in Cleveland I feel I know a lot about the hospital. I love Metro! It has a reputation for being the "poor people's hospital" because it is the county sponsored hospital however, I use my insurance to recieve care there because it is so great. The nurses truly have a lot of autonomy and input in the decision making process and it really seems like everyone that works there is there because they want to make a difference. It's not all glory and tooting your own horn for Metro (unlike the *other* Cleveland hospitals). If I move back to Cleveland after school, Metro is definitely where I would work!

I am a licenced RN in Nevada, but graduated and got my RN originally in July 2008 IN Cleveland OH.. Metro would be my first choice hands down. Esp if you want ER. One of my friends has been an ER nurse their for 8 years (started L & D) and LOVES IT. Another recent RN grad with me went to Ortho their and loves it. TAKE IT FROM ME- I work for a for profit hospital in Nevada and it is nothing like Cleveland. I wish I was still their. Metro will give you a great diversity with up to date technology. Training from what I hear for new grads is top notch. I'd look in to it . Good Luck!

Being a county hospital, MH doesn't have the cash flow other hospital do,but they VP of nursing does her best to keep perks for them!
