Hi All, I happen to go on Meridian Health's website, under the student nurses pages it states that 1. you can get a job as a tech making 13.56/hr working 24 hours/week. and 2. that they will pay for your nursing program you work 12 hrs shift sat/sun they pay you for 36 hrs in exchange you work there for 2 years. Doesnt sound like a bad deal to me. Has anyone out there done this or known of anyone who has???? At the very least you will have a secure placement once you graduate right? At thought woould be appreciated. thanks!

This sounds like a great deal to me!! Good find!

I worked for Meridian and knew a lot of people who did this program. They were very happy with it.

It's a great program if you know you want to remain with Meridian after you graduate. I knew I wanted to leave and start fresh elsewhere once I graduated, so I utilized student loans.

I do know that they've recently had problems placing students who've recently passed their boards into nursing jobs. You don't really get much of a choice as to where you work, though you can state your preference.

did you do a nurse extern job there- they also stated that you can get a job i guess as pct @ 13.56/hr. is that what you did???? I tried looking into Community but havent found anything. Im thinking of doing it, 2 years really isnt that long-but i guess it could be if you dont like the area. But if they put me say med/surg (not an area i want) stick it out hone my skills as a new nurse then move on.

Meridian is made up of three very different hospitals, and sees all kinds of pts. You could always transfer between them if you weren't happy in a particular unit...
