Mercy Medical Center Redding NEW GRAD

U.S.A. California

Hey all!

Just wondering if anyone else has applied to Mercy Medical in Redding for the New Grad Program. Or if anyone knows their hiring process?? I'm just really anxiously waiting to see if I get an interview...lol! Thanks!

YAY! Congratulations, Rinniethepooh! Has anyone else gotten an update? :)

Someone on the RN New Grad California FB page mentioned that she spoke with HR, and they told her people should be notified by the end of next week. I hope it's by Monday so everyone doesn't have to keep wondering. Good luck you guys!

I was called today and extended an offer! I am super excited, and thankful every day that I've come this far. Best of luck, everyone!!

You must be so happy! Congrats!! Can I ask everyone now that the interviews are done, what you all answered to the scenario question ? Or how much detail you went into?

Tofu tofu:I feel so bad I just found your private message!! I didn't know I could get direct messages for some reason! And it turns out I'm too much of a newbie to reply to them still.

Well it looks like your interview went well so I'm glad my delayed response didn't hurt you in any way. It looks like they'll be officially placing us in our units later, but from what I hear people almost always get their first choice. I'm likely to be in oncology since that's where I precepted and I wasn't sure which way to go in my interview. I think I would prefer a different floor for a broader base of experience now that I've had time to reflect, but I like everything so I'm sure I'll be happy wherever. Plus maybe my familiarity with onc will help he transition for me:) Where are you hoping to be placed? When are you planning on moving? Are you nervous? I am! You can email me if you want at [email protected] (so can the other people on this forum).

Hi Everyone,

I just received the offer for employment yesterday. Im so excited, and Congrats to everyone who got an offer. Does anyone know any good places to live in Redding?

Congratulations!! :laugh::laugh::laugh:

I was offered a spot today!! Soo excited -- and congrats and good luck to everyone else too!!

:)

Has anyone heard back from them after accepting the offer?

Hey Tofu-Tofu! I can't respond to your messages because I haven't been active enough on the site yet. Apparently there is some sort of minimum amount of participation required in order to send DMs. Congrats on all that is going on for you! Sounds like I won't get the chance to meet you in person, but let us know if you end up accepting the Mercy offer after all! :)

Congrats everyone on your job offers at Mercy! I live here in Redding and I am going to school at Simpson U for their nursing program. I just wanted to answer the question about where some of the nicer apartments are. There are plenty of houses to rent in Redding, but most of them are overpriced for what you get. Your best bet is a decent apartment. I just moved out of the River Knolls apartments off of hilltop drive. They are the best apartments in north Redding as far as I am concerned. You get a great view of the valley and the river, and rent is affordable. Most of my neighbors worked at Mercy. Some other decent apartments are in the downtown area, above the promenade. The only downside to living downtown is that there are alot of homeless drug addicts over there, and getting your car broken into is a constant issue even if you park right next to the police station. Some great houses to rent would be on the South side of victor avenue (cheaper area), and over by Mary's Lake (more expensive but close to the hospital). If you have any questions about Redding feel free to ask.

Oh MAN! Thanks so much for the input, Intrstngusername!! I actually JUST signed a lease two days ago and could have used the advice from someone in the know!! Although, I'm probably not the typical resident since I just got married and my husband will be moving up with me. I'm also a super sensitive sleeper so I was afraid of renting an apartment due to potential noise. Rental prices seem really reasonable in Redding for the most part, so maybe some of the residents can find a house in a nice neighborhood and then each person's monthly rent still would be nice and low?

How much longer do you have left in the program? Do you do your clinicals at Mercy? During my interview they told me the hospital is building a new simlab for the local students to use, so I hope you get to benefit from that!!
