Mercy College of Health Sciences ABSN Fall 2022

Published

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone else has applied to Mercy in Des Moines, Iowa. Does anyone have more details about this school? I currently applied for Fall 2022 and if I get in will be attending either this Fall or Spring. Anyone else have details on their application process? Also, Anyone else applying from out of state and would want to room together for the duration of this program?

Thanks ❤️

Hey girl!

I also applied and got into the school but not the ABSN program itself yet, I think I will find out the first week of June. I emailed a lot of questions to the admissions counselor for this program so I know a fair amount about the program. If you have questions let me know ? What state are from originally? I would be moving from California to complete the program!

Hi!

How long did it take to get accepted to the college of health science? It has been hard to get ahold of anyone. I am trying to apply before the June 15 deadline.

Did you guys submit all transcripts already?

Thanks!

@Micho87

I got accepted to the college fairly quickly after applying, around 7 days. To get accepted into a program takes about 10-14 days as they have to go over your transcripts and make sure you meet all qualifications. If I were you, I would complete the application, then send all of your transcripts to [email protected]. They can be difficult to get ahold of. If you can't reach them through phone, email [email protected], he was very helpful in answering all of my questions.

Hopes this helps! What program are you applying for?

Thanks for your response! Alex has responded to me and gave me a bunch of info.
I am applying to the fall 2022 program.
I got accepted to another program in California that I’m supposed to start in August, so hopefully I get news before then so I don’t have to pay for the first term here, which is really expensive.

The only hesitation that I have is that I read from another user that someone wasn’t able to get licensed in California with this program. Although the advisor assured me I would be able to.
do you happen to know anything about this?
what program are you applying to?

are you relocating?

Michelle

@Micho87 I am relocating from California, although I was born and raised in Iowa. I have heard a lot of students go to Iowa to complete this program then go back to California to start practicing. I have reached out to the California board of nursing to make sure this school is acceptable to get licensed, I'll let you know what they say. ?

I am also applying to the Fall 2022 ABSN program. Hope to see you there!

Hey!

I was wondering, as I'm waiting to hear about acceptance... Is this program pretty easy to get into?

Like as a long as you have all the pre req's a bachelors, etc.. you're in?

Some of my pre req's are older than 5 years but that does not seem to be an issue right?

Im anxiously waiting LOL

Thanks!

Michelle

@Micho87 from what I’ve heard and read it seems really easy to get into! The lady who was looking over my transcripts to grant admission is on vacation right now, so that could be the reason for the delay! I am positive you will hear back soon!

Have you asked anyone a timeline of when you will have an answer?

There is no expiration date on pre reqs ?

I’m so excited to meet you this fall! Where are you looking to live?

Thanks for the response!
Yea,  Alex gave me a timeline. I’m just being super inpatient haha. Mainly because I want to make sure I know before I have to start at the school in California and possibly pay for the first term. But I’m sure I’ll find out before.

Im excited to meet you as well! I’m not sure where I’ll live. I’ve been looking around Des Moines and neighborhoods around. I’m just not super familiar with the area. But the price for a one bedroom is sooooo nice compared to California! Haha

Do you have any recommendations on nice and safe neighborhoods? I’m looking to get a one bedroom apartment for my cat and I ?

Michelle

@Micho87

Haha, I know the feeling I have been really impatient as well, but I am supposed to hear back by tomorrow so I’ll let you know what the verdict is ?

I grew up in Iowa, but didn’t spend a lot of time in Des Moines. I have friends there that tell me west of the river is best, I’m looking in Sherman hill area because I like historical/vintage vibes, but Woodland Hills and Ingersoll area is safe! I also hear Rowat Lofts in East Village is nice! Best places to look for housing is facebook marketplace, hotpads, Trulia, Zillow.

I have a cat too! I’m looking for a studio/1 bedroom myself! Let me know how your search goes ?

@Micho87

Hey girl! Just found out yesterday I got into the program! Let me know when you find out! ? Im sure you will make it. I just started a facebook page for everyone starting this program in the fall, so when you make it in, join the page so we can all start connecting before the program starts ❤️ Excited to hear back if you make it in!
