Hey all,
I have a job offer at Mercy SW in Bakersfield. If accepted, I will be relocating there. How do you like living there? Does anyone have any experience working with the hospital there? Have you heard anything regarding their Versant residency? There is a very large buy out if you do not stay for a full 2 1/2 years. I would be really appreciative of any information you could offer.
Since you've now started your training in your new positions, I'm curious to know what the experience has been like for you so far. I will be graduating this May and I know that Bakersfield is one of the few areas in the state that is taking on new grads more than one or two at a time. I'd appreciate any information you have the time to give.
We can't send private messages until we've had at least 15 posts. So we're both too new. :)
Thanks so much for the reply; I know that being new is always a challenge, but it's encouraging to know that overall you're finding it a positive experience. Once we get enough posts maybe we can message privately and speak more in depth.
I live in Bakersfield and I agree that it isn't the nicest of places. I wish some things were different but the people are generally very kind and it's hecka cheaper than many parts of CA and it is a good place to travel from with many desireable places about 2 hours away. I hope you enjoy your stay and are having a pleasant experience overall!
hi everyone, i have an interview with mercy hospital tomorrow afternoon. I was wondering if you guys have any tips for me? was it a panel interview? were they nice? how was the test? i was told i need to take a short test before the interview.. I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions but I'm sSOO nervous....
Hey, for those who were in the new grad program, can you share your experience about the culture of the hospital and how you like it or not. I am interested in the family birth center as well! Is there adequate/safe staffing, are you asked to stay overtime, do the experienced nurses support and encourage you while you are learning, is it a cut-throat environment? I am from San Francisco and will be applying to the Fall 2016 new grad program so I wanted to get a sense of how things are down there. Thanks!
If possible could anyone explain the pay package as well?
Unionized hospital, so the pay is good. As a new ADN grad, I just signed on at $33.92/hr. They offer an additional 10% for nights and 10% for weekends. Also full health benefits free for yourself AND your dependents. There is no sign on bonus. But the Dignity facilities are the highest paying hospitals in Bakersfield, so they really don't need to.
