Mercer, Kennesaw accelerated or GPC?? Advices please???

Congratulations on being accepted first off! I am a prenursing student in Atlanta and God willing, I want to be announcing my acceptance somewhere next year. All three schools are good so you have a tough choice. I also have a 11 month old and like you I want to be able to give him my time while in school. With that said, I would look into the school that fits your home life. You have to asked yourself how your finances are and what school will allow some flexibility in your schedule. I know for me I will have to work and I want to be able to be close in case an emergency comes up. I can't really tell you where to go since I am still deciding where to apply but I can you my top choices:GPC (heard they work with your schedule)Mercer GSU (I wish!)I hope this helps a little:) Keep us posted on what you decide!

Thanks ummnasim! My mom says the same thing about the importance of being close in case of an emergency.. So that would narrow down to Mercer and GPC... I've been reading that GPC is just as hard as a bachelors program.. doesn't make sense to me, but that's what I'm reading on this website.. Anyway.. need to make a decision soon as the deadline is approaching..

Congratulations!!! Which school did you decide? Also, what was your GPA when you applied to those schools? And your TEAS scores?

I am at KSU right now, and I am applying for Fall 2014... I am applying to KSU, Mercer, Ga Southern, and Armstrong.

I'm a Mercer student now and most of my classmates had a 3.4+ and 85+ on TEAS. I had a 3.8 and a 91 on TEAS. Good luck! :)

How do you like Mercer?

I really enjoy it. The professors are all extremely understanding and work together to teach all the classes, so you'll never be given more than one exam a day or more schoolwork than you can handle. They genuinely want you to succeed and will be available for you at all times possible. We use the Piedmont hospital systems for clinicals, so you likely won't ever leave the Atlanta metro area. For your first year, you'll have classes 3 days a week and one six hour clinical shift each week on either Tuesday or Thursday, and then pick up 2 eight hour clinical days your second semester. Clinical groups are usually 5 or 6 people. Your senior year will be spent mostly in the clinical setting working 12 hour shifts. We do simulation labs often and have a lot of training to prepare for validations, as well as open labs you can attend to further practice your skills. Your entire class will have lecture together and it will really help build a close relationship with each other. During your junior year, you can request a personal mentor, who is a senior and can show you the ropes. A lot of professors and students donate books and study materials too. I'm really happy at Mercer, honestly. :) If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
