Hi everyone! I'm sure all of you have gotten the news about acceptances or denial already. I was fortunate enough to be accepted for the Spring 2025 cohort. I don't see a post for this class cohort, so if you would like, please share your thoughts, questions, or anything cocerning this upcoming program. Maybe we can start a couple facebook groups to get the ball rolling. Best of luck and looking forward to it!

I was accepted into Fall 2024 cohort. I am wondering if anyone is familiar with how Merced College's program runs. Are they organized? How are the instructors? Do we get to choose Mercy or Emmanuel Medical center for clinicals or do they choose for us?
Congrats on starting Fall 2024! Looking at the previous year handbook, the facilities for clinical are most likely Mercy nearby, Marie Green, and Merced Behavioral. From ratemyprofressor, the instructors are well liked, and a friend of mine graduated from there with high praise for the program. Either way, getting into the program is enough to be excited for with how hard it is to get in yearly.

Merced Colleges program is pretty demanding and stressful, but I suspect all nursing programs are. In terms of organization, the program itself runs smoothly, I think!
First semester- Fundamentals of Nursing (9units) lectures/theory are in class but Pharmacology (3units) will be the only class in all four semester to be online, with the exception to the exams. Wednesday-Friday. Friday will be your clinical days. Split between various nursing homes and when I was at this program, we also did Los Banos and Mercy hospital.
Second semester- Maternity and Acute Med/Surg (10units). Monday-Wednesday. Tuesday will be your clinical day. All clinical days will be at Mercy Hospital.
Third semester- Pediatrics and Advance Med/Surg (10units). Tuesday-Thursday. Wednesday will be your clinical days. Some students will go to Emanuel (limited) while others will go to Mercy hospital. If too many student request to go to Emanuel (cross your fingers). Everyone will go to Valley Children's hospital in Madera (3-4 days, can't remember)
Fourth semester (and quite possible the most fun 🤩)- Pysch/Mental Health and Advance Med/Surg (9units). Monday- Wednesday. Clinical days are Mondays. All students will go to Merced Behavior and Mercy Hospital but are split in half. Towards the end, everyone will precept for 6 days. Precepting at Merced if ever changing. I believe the last group were able to pick between Memorial, Emanuel, Mercy and Los Banos hospital.
In terms of instructors and clinical instructors goes.... Do your best, give it your all and you'll be fine! Just know your material, be safe and don't kill anyone.
Good Luck to you guys!
