Hello everyone!
Who here is ready to apply to Merced's nursing program next month? I'm about take my TEAS exam soon so I'm super nervous! If you don't mind me asking, how many points do you all suspect you are going to be applying with? This is the first program I am going to be applying to so I have no idea what to expect out of it and hope that I do everything correctly!
Hi guys, im new to Merced all nurses and I have no idea how Merced RN program works. Can anyone please give me some information? Is there one or two application periods(dates)? Do they accept students based on points or lottery? If they accept based on points, what was the lowest points that were accepted last application? Where are the clinical sites? Sorry soooo many questions....
There's one application period (March). 60 people get in for fall and spring and They go by lottery; however people who are applying for their 4th time have a guaranteed acceptance, and 5% of spots are awarded to those with the highest points. The rest is lottery. The clinical sites are mainly at mercy, but you go to Los Banos, Angerry and two mental health facilities. :)
I got into the fall 2018 class. Congratulations to all the people who got accepted and to all the people who didn't get in, don't lose hope! Apply apply apply, don't give up.
I have a question, if you're already a mccd student, do you still need to follow the online registration step on the acceptance letter?
Hello all. I am part of the new 4th semester group starting this August and graduating in December. For those that did not get in, never give up. If this is something you really want, keep applying. Think of it this way, you will EVENTUALLY get a shot. It is just a matter of time.
For the alternates, don't give up hope. I was an alternate for my second try getting into the program. I did not hear I got in until 3 weeks before school started.
For those who got accepted, congratulations. However, now the real work begins. This program is tough. I have seen many fall nearly every semester. Take it serious. Study hard and don't give up. This program will be your life. You will be stressed. You will want to quit. But you have to push through it. Best word of advice: Ask questions and go to skills labs. Everyone in this program wants to see you succeed. Feel free to stop one of us walking down the halls and pick our brains. Come into one of the labs and introduce yourself. Most of the new 2nd, 3rd, and 4th semester students have ZERO problems talking to you, giving advice, and showing a skill or two. Anyways, see you all in August. Enjoy your summer vacation. You will need it.
No that's not correct. On their website it shows you what you need to apply. It's child development and as long as you passed all your pre-reqs then you're good to go! It's a point system but only 5 seats for students with the highest grades that applied and then the rest of the 30 seats are for the random lottery :)
I also applied to MJC and got the news today that I was accepted into their Spring semester. I got into Fall semester at Merced but since I live in Modesto, Merced would be a commute for me so I called the Allied Health office this morning to give my seat up for Fall at Merced. So they will for sure take one person from the waitlist to fill my spot. Good luck to everyone these next two years! I will be working my butt off at MJC!
