Hi guys! I finished my first semester of nursing and I am moving on to my second semester this January. My first class is Mental Health. I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on getting through it. What helped you? Study tips and things to remember? I also would like to have a book I could do practice questions in or of that sort. Any book recommendations.

I enjoyed psych but it was also so heavy on therapeutic communication that I left after every test feeling as though I surely bombed it. I finished with an A but I felt it was a pretty tough course. Fortunately we were given the option of doing it over the summer instead of during our third semester (last fall). Some people took that option and some didn't. I was glad I did because turns out third semester was the hardest yet and I wouldn't have wanted to add psych to that stress. All I did was use the textbook, the power points and the online quizbank. Our instructors posted a lot of weblinks we had to go over on our own.

Know your psych drugs from pharm! Know the generics and trade names and know the most serious side effect of each. This was the most intensive part of mental health for me.
