32 years ago when i was taking my first a&p class we had to dissect a cat and learn all the pieces and parts. we were told it was because they were mammals similar to humans. i've always had cats. over the years i've had to minister to them the same drugs and treatments that humans get as well--currently one who has diabetes and is on insulin and another who has allergies and occassionally has to be given prednisone.
here is the only web site i know of on cat anatomy to help you with learning this stuff.
http://bio.bd.psu.edu/cat/ - virtual cat dissection from pennsylvania state university - organized by body system with labeled photographs of cat anatomy

I'm in the part of my anatomy class where not only do we have to memorize all of the human musculature but also a cats. Every muscle, insertion, action, origin etc. I've managed to do it but I keep asking myself why memorize a cat?? If I was going into vet school I could understand but I'm trying to be a nurse....not an animal technician. Has anybody else had to go the cat and human route??
