Memorization aids for drugs/values/other facts

Published

Hi All!

How do you memorize things? Things like drugs, lab values, things that have to be...memorized? Do you use note cards? Drill with other students?

Anyone here use Anki?

I use pictures, I either draw them myself or print them from online. I have a photographic memory so the pics help me remember values and medications.

I'm really visual also, and I draw, but how would you use a picture to remember lab values?

mainly pictures for drugs, sorry didn't clarify, for lab values I just have to memorize

on the other hand, if I can include a lab value on a pic I will, like if Im drawing a pic for chemotherapy, I will include blood counts (WBC's, RBC's and platelets) on the pic because these labs are directly affected by chemo.

I am even more curious now...really love to know. How do you use pictures for study aids...do you draw the parts of the body, with the drug's administration route and then the parts of the body that the drug goes to work on, or....?? I've never heard of anyone drawing pictures for study aids. In nursing I mean. Please tell an example of how you do it. Isn't it time consuming?

I could see how the process of drawing would embed information into the subconscious, where it would stay put for when its needed.
