Hi all!
I know it's kind of early, but I thought I would start a thread for all of us graduating in May and are applying to the grad nurse program here in a few weeks!
Hi past applicants who can shed light on the process ? Going through it myself right now.
Two questions:
1. Were we expected to finish the *timed* 'General Reasoning' section of the behavioral assessment we were emailed to complete? I think it was something like 30 questions in 6 minutes? I have always been on the slower side with tests because I like to take my time and double check before moving forward. I got cut of at question 22 due to time... oops ?
2. For those fortunate to get interviews (+ job offers) when does the conversation of salary happen? I would be coming from NY and have been doing my part to research cost of living in houston, but have no idea on how to gauge what to expect as a starting RN-BSN salary in that city.
Thanks everyone! Hope everyone is staying healthy. ?

About the assessment, I wouldn't worry about that - I honestly don't even remember it that well. I don't think I finished either ?
Regarding salary - I interviewed for and accepted a position with the PICU. I actually missed the call from the recruiter telling me I got the job, but she left a voicemail telling me I was offered the position. When I returned her call, I was able to ask about what shift I was hired on to and what the salary looked like. My base pay is $29.10/hr - I'm unsure what the shift differential is and if that applies to residents or if I'll have to wait until after residency for that extra pay since I will be on night shift. From what I know about the hospitals in the medical center, this is very similar to what other places pay their new grad nurses.
The assessment doesn't really matter. I believe I got to question 19 when I ran out of time. They don't really look at what you score. I believe they focus on how you interview and you fit into their floor or what they're looking for. I received my salary information when I was given my offer. Day shift is $29.10 and night shift $33.10.
