Memorial Hermann gn residency summer 2018

Published

Hi all!

Making a thread for the Memorial Hermann GN Residency Program starting in summer 2018.

Anyone going to the open house/ pre-match day soon on February 17??

Hi everyone, I will be graduating this coming August and therefore interested in Memorial Hermann's GN program for October. However, my interest is focused on The Woodlands and Northeast campuses. So I guess my question to you all is if when you attended the Pre-Match day event, were you able to select your top campuses for Match Day? Or did you attended the Match Day at MH TMC even though you were interviewing for another campus? (I believe from this thread though that each campus has their own Match Day). Also, is there a Pre-Match day for every campuses or is it just the one in the TMC? I just want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row here because I know the application window will open soon. Thanks in advance for any feedback you are able to provide.

I did not attend the pre-match day event-I didn't even hear about pre-match day until after it was over but I believe it was only for TMC. I applied online when the date opened up and it asks you to list your first and second choice campuses. On the application page there will be a list of the campuses and which departments they're offering the program for. Keep in mind that not all hospitals will have positions available for every unit. For example I was originally interested in the Woodlands like you but I wanted to work in woman's services and this application period they didn't have any open positions for any of those units so I picked a different hospital than I had intended. So first your first choice unit decides whether or not to invite you to their match day-yes each campus has their own and does it completely different. For the campus I interviewed with, greater heights, I got invited to match day like a month and a half in advance and was asked to fill out this information sheet and send it back, and also to give them my top 2 unit preferences. They do all their interviews on one day back to back. But if they don't fill all their positions they sometimes do a second match day. From what I gathered talking to the recruiter if your first choice invites you to their match day you won't be invited to your second choice. I hope that helps a little! Sorry I couldn't answer the questions on pre-match day! Oh and random words of advice, after you apply don't bother checking the portal where you applied to check your application status. My application status still said "pending" even after I was invited to match day and offered the job. If they invite you to match day or want more info etc they will send you an email and the portal won't say any of that. So check your spam folder often because I had a few emails from hospitals end up in there. Good luck!

Not sure if anyone still checks this thread, but I was wondering had anyone done their pre-employment screening with the occupational health clinic? I'm wondering what to expect from the physical besides the drug screen. Also, Do we pay for this appointment ourselves?

doing mine tomorrow morning. I dont think we pay for it. I'm not sure if theyll do a chest xray or not, but I'm thinking urine and blood work for sure and just an over all physical. I'll update the thread once I'm done with the app.

When i picked the day for my screen, I was sent an email providing details about it. They didn't mention a chest x-ray and I don't think we pay for it.

Hey guys! Just curious to see if anyone that was hired at TMC would like to talk about orientation! Especially if you're working for Children's because I know we have a different start date than the main hospital! Let me know! We're getting close!

Hi!

I was looking at the requirements for the application and it says they need reference letters, do you know if they will take physical copies on match day or do we have to email them a doc., pdf, or scanned reference letter?

TIA!

They were to be uploaded with the application. On Match day, they pulled the resume and letters of recommendation that I had uploaded when I applied.

Yeah I believe they must be attached to your application. Some of my professors provided physical copies so I scanned then and made them into PDFs to add to my application.

So, I am scheduled for orientation in memorial city on July 9th. I appears that it is Culture Day according to the new hire info, and also the day where we take our pics for our badges. It says we can either dress in professional attire or scrubs. I was just wondering who else is attending and what you plan to wear? I really want to wear scrubs, but I don't want to be the only one lol

I'm going also. I plan to wear scrubs lol takes too much to find anything else to wear lol

Going through the process of interviews for August graduates' match day now. I don't live in Houston, so I have to coordinate with my professors for days that I will miss in order to attend pre-match day, interviews, physicals, etc... I already missed a day of class for pre-match day, will have to miss a clinical day for the interview if I'm selected, and may have to miss more due to other components of the hiring process. Our program is extremely unsympathetic to our cause of finding employment (lol that I ever had to type that out), so missing multiple clinical days due to finding employment may result in us failing the course... from y'alls experience, when do they try to schedule the physical, orientation, and other steps of the hiring process? Will it be after we graduate in August, or should I plan on likely missing another clinical day during the summer?
