  2. SHARP New Graduate Nurse Residency Program August 2012

I applied for the winter 2009/2010 program, application was submitted in early October, got the email saying my application was forwarded to the manager on 11/13, didn't get a call till 11/18 for the interview. But every unit is different. Keep busy...
  3. Sharp Summer 2011 New Grad Program

No. There is no guarantee that we even get interviews. I think it does help that we do all our clincals at sharp, but in no way is there ever a guarantee that we all get jobs there. Many alumni work at all different hospitals, local and otherwise.
  4. Sharp Summer 2011 New Grad Program

I got a position in the Winter of 2009 for the new grad program, each department does interviewing differently, the dept I got hired in called me for a panel interview, then after I passed that it was a peer interview. I have friends who got hired a...
  5. Job Offer White Memorial, where do I live?

  6. Your desired specialty

I used to think I wanted to be an L&D nurse and then during my rotation I was SO bored, I actually had more fun being in postpartum with the mommies and new babies. I fell in love with the ED, and I can see myself doing this for a while, I can't...
  7. Your desired specialty

AMEN... I feel like an expensive clinic nurse! Most people don't know the difference between something that is an emergency and something they can go to Urgent Care or even their PCP for. Oh well... It does keep you busy, so I guess I can't complai...
  8. Anyone accepted into Nursing Program without Volunteer Experience?

I also had zero experience in the medical field and got accepted to two Bachelor's programs, I wasn't sure about how they weighted everything, but both applications did ask about volunteer/work experience.
  9. California's 2010 New Grad RN Program

One of my classmates just got hired at UCSD, SICU. And another is in her 3rd week at Loma Linda ICU as well.
  10. How long are the average new RN orientations?

I work in the ED, my orientation was 12 weeks. Some of my other new grad friends only had 6 or 8 on medsurg and tele floors. My ICU friends have at least 12 as well.
  11. How far would you drive for a job as a new grad?

Currently I drive approx 50 mins one way. I was lucky to get a new grad position, I wasn't about to turn it down b/c I had to drive a little further than most people would like. Plus, i live in SoCal, everything is at least 20 mins drive. :)
  12. Anyone going to the next step with Sharp NG program 2010?

Not officially, no. I have heard that oncology and medsurg have at Grossmont. I have a friend in the ED at grossmont too, so I can ask.
  13. California's 2010 New Grad RN Program

I say still apply, I (and 4 other New Grads) got the position on my unit before passing the NCLEX, so it does happen. :) Good luck!
  14. Anyone going to the next step with Sharp NG program 2010?

I know a few people who have had phone interviews and have scheduled in-person interviews so far, but each unit handles their process differently, so it will all depend on what unit you have applied for.
  15. Rady Childrens or Sharp RN Residency

oh! wow, ok, sorry, my mistake. Wow, it is definitely surprising that they haven't hired all from within. But that's great for all the new grads applying that aren't internal. :)
