Medical school for nurses

Published

I am going to become Pediatrics Surgeon Otolaryngologist (ENT) After I become an RN

what medical school would be good for me how should I plan out where i do my residency, fellowship, post grad ? please help. I need to know this information

Specializes in Psych, EMS.

I am slightly interested in medical school too. Try to ground yourself. It's tempting..but instead of fantasizing about residency and the top medical schools, work on acing your pre-reqs and the MCAT. Also, you might want to post on studentdoctor.net for more informative answers on medical careers. Hope you make it!!

If you know you want to become an MD, why become an RN first? It won't give you any special consideration in getting accepted to medical school or any "short cuts" in med school, and the standard RN curriculum won't meet all the prereq requirements for med school (you'll have to take additional courses).

Why not just focus on getting into med school? Most people find that enough of a undertaking by itself.

Specializes in CSICU/CTICU.

Do some research..getting in to MD school is half the battle..If you want to match in to your chosen residency, you best be top of your class in MD school...something to consider! That was always an aversion to me..go to med school and then risk doing a specialty I wasn't in to? It should be noted that certain specialties are easier to match in to than others (psych/peds/primary care)! Good luck.

I strongly reiterate the posts that were left prior to mine.

However to answer your question, without a doubt I can say that NYP Cornell is the premier hospital in NY, if not the country, for pediatric ENT. The doctors are passionate about their field and are some of the most down right humble and compassionate doctors that I have come across.
