Medical Mission (need help!!)

Nurses General Nursing

Hello everyone!

I am an ER nurse and currently am finishing up school as a Family Nurse Practitioner this May. I obviously haven't had much time for myself being that I work full-time and go to school, but when I graduate, I would really like to go on a medical mission. Ideally, this summer would be great, but do you think it would be best to go before taking my NP boards to get it done with first and then come back and focus on taking the boards or the other way around. I assume I will start actively np job searching once I pass (hopefully) and may not get the chance to go on a medical mission if I were to find a job, but I do know the process can take a while.

Also, being that I am now graduating and student loans are going to be have to be paid back...I really would like to go on a very low cost (if even possible) trip. The costly trips have always been the discouraging factor.

does anyonee have any recommendations? I will say I know I would love the experience but I am a little nervous.

The only reccomendation i have recieved was with a Christian group that went to Haiti. I particularly did not want to participate in a religious medical based mission if that makes sense.

Thank you!!
