Hi there! I start the lpn program on the 13th. I went to an open house last weekend because I was interested and the next thing you know I'm starting next week! Happened very quickly, no waiting list. I haven't heard anything about the rn program being discredited. I do know that they are the no 1 provider of lpn's in the state and that they have a 97.3% pass rate for the nclex. It is around $19,000 for the lpn program. Expensive, but it covers all tuition, books and uniforms. I would say go talk to them and see what you think. Take a look at several places. That's what I did and I liked MCI the best. That's best for me, but not necessarily for you, so do some research! Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Hello! I also am in the lpn program at medical careers institute in NN. I am doing the evening program since this worked out best with my schedule.(husband and 3 kiddies). Yes, the cost is almost $20,000, but I too wanted to get my foot in the door and get started on my career sooner rather than later. I'm tired of being broke all of the time!!!:chuckle I too, researched several of the programs and found this one worked the best for me. I do intend on going further with my studies after this program, but I am taking one step at a time...I have approximately 10 months left....I haven't heard the rumor about the RN program being discredited. My school is just having their first class go through if I'm not mistaken.

I have an interview there tomorrow but i want to hear it from people who are actually enrolled. Have u two heard any bad things about the school? Im not trying to be negative but I just want to know what Im getting into. thanks!

Hello again and you're welcome. As far as myself, I am completely satisfied with my experience thus far. We had a class that complained about every little thing and that was difficult, but those people are not there anymore. And it's the usual things, like not liking a teacher or an assignment. Ultimately, the ones who are still there are satisfied as far as I know. Every once in while they'll complain about something, be it too much work, etc, however, it is a very demanding program. I see the light at the end of the tunnel and that's what keeps me going! Again, after you go to your interview, you'll have a better idea of how you personally feel about the school. But then once you go you may end up having a ton of questions, too. I'd be happy to try and help you answer them. Good luck today!!:)

Okay I just came back from my interview and I took half of the TEAS test, I did well on the first section and am going back tomorrow to take the second half. Have any of you had any other college courses prior to MCI? I am asking because I have been going to TCC since I graduated HS and have already taken some of the classes MCI has in their RN program (such as anatomy and physiology I and II, psychology, sociology, college composition I and II) I didnt get a chance to ask if that means I would have to take them again. I dont mind retaking them, but I am hoping that if I dont have to they will knock off some money from the $24,000 price tag this program costs. Also, for those of you currently attending, did you have to pay your tuition in full ( like with a loan or whatever)? Or can you pay payments to the school? Because I know with TCC I had to pay in full to register for classes and what wasnt paid for was dropped. Everything sounds good to me, except the price, but I am seriously thinking about signing up anyways. The LPN programs price isnt that far behing the RN program so I figure I might as well go all the way. I was quoted $19,850 for LPN and $24,950 for RN. I am so excited right now, but still trying to figure out the kinks. Do any of you know if you can test out of the prereqs, she said I would have to take some computer prereq. Thanks in advance!

One more thing, you ladies in the LPN program: Do you graduate with an AAS or just a certificate? I didnt have enough time to ask a lot of these questions when I was there today. Thanks again!

Hello! I'm glad things went well for you at your interview! I wish I would have done the RN program, however it started about two months after we originally started and you weren't able to transfer to the program after the first month. Kind of stinks, but our classes will transfer to Tcc or TNcc and we could just do the articulation program. (Or, we do have the option to return to MCI and pay the additional cost of the entire RN program.) Some of your college classes should definitely transfer and if they do, they should knock off tuition costs for you. As far as payment, the have people that will help you out in financial aid with filling out papers, etc. You can do student loans and then pay a monthly fee-we have one girl in our class who is paying everything on her own. No students loans or anything. I wish I could be that lucky!!Then I wouldn't have to worry about paying it all back!! As far as degree, LPN is certificate/diploma. The RN is actually AAS degree...Again, I hope this info helped. Have fun with your test and good luck!!!

Okay I signed up for their LPN program. Atleast Im doin something right?! For those of you who are in their LPN program, Im in the evening program so it is 18 mos but youre allowed to switch to the day program (for a fee i think ) so does that mean if I switch to the day program I will be able to graduate in less than 18 mos? Just curious...Im feeling excited and then a little sad because I am enrolled in TCC right now(i go thursday nights) and that means I will have to drop that class Im taking because I was told MCI is Mon-Thurs nights 5-1030. That really sucks. But Im still excited just hoping to get done in less than 18 mos...

Hi! I start LPN at the Va beach campus on thursday next week. If you switch to the day program it takes 12 months, not 18. I can't do days however. I've got too many kids! Congrats on signing up. Let me know when and where you'll be going to school!

Hey mum im attending the va beach campus also in the evenings. My orientation is also next wednesday at 530. Im still feeling a little weird about the whole thing, I really wanted to go for RN straight through but now Ive taken this detour because Im tired of waiting. Anyways, I am looking forward to doing SOMETHING...I just wonder if I can get done before 18 months, Ive taken some of the courses already at Tidewater community college. Did u get a schedule yet? I didnt and Im unfamiliar as to how this is going to work. I dont have anything concrete to tell my boss about when I will be in school :)
