Medical Assistant/ NREMT Certification

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I am a medical assistant per diem for a doctor at a LTC facility.

I am not "technically" certified MA, however I am like an intern for my boss/ Doctor under her supervision.

I have my A.A degree already and at the moment I have finished EMT school. So all I need is to take the NREMT....which I haven't.

1. My boss hasn't taught me about injections yet. I don't do injections just mostly taking vitals and clerical vote. I live in the Socal area, is there a place that I can take quick MA classes or a refresher to take the MA certification?

2. I passed the physical portion and EMT class. All I need is to take the damn NREMT (I didn't pass the first time) and I'm so stressed because I am studying for the TEAS and NREMT and classes.

My thoughts are all over the place. It's midnight and I wake up at 4am to go to work at 5am.

Hi, I'm and EMT and also applying to nursing school for fall 2017. I would focus on NREMT if I were you. I used Pearson VUE and took their practice test on their unit until I continually passed with 80%. Once I was getting 80% each time then I took the NREMT. I passed on the first time at question 70.

How many questions did you get on the NREMT? That can tell you how far you were from passing (potentially).

Since you have experience in the medical field, I'd venture a guess that your exam deficiencies were probably in MCI/NIMS protocols, law/ethics, and/or transport protocols. There are LOTS of online resources for NREMT practice. As pp said, I'd focus on that test over TEAS (which is all general knowledge questions, not specific NHTSA content).

Good luck!
