So I just started a new job last week, and they have med techs training me to do my job. They know nothing about the nursing scope
of practice. They want me to do a med techs job and try to fit in my duties as a nurse but quite frankly, I found that at the end of my shift I had been too busy passing meds all day to do any of my duties as a nurse. Is this right, or what should I do?

Be sure that you are asking your supervisor what your priorities are, and the focus of your job. And take a look at your job description and what you are responsible for.
Perhaps the Med Techs are just showing you the way around the unit/office just so you know what goes on and how it is supposed to function.
If and when they start telling you how to give medications, or any other nursing function, is when I would have further conversation with your supervisor regarding this. Especially if you are the only licensed person in the facility/unit.

I hope this is the job you quit. You should report them to the states ombudsman.
yes, this is the job that I quit this morning. they said i would have 8 days of orientation as well and shortened the time to 4. i was not being trained by nurses and there was hardly a nurse in sight.
