Med-Surg certification exam

Curious: does the Army pay for certification and, if so, what is the process? Is one certification preferred over the other (I think it's AMNC or ANCC)?

Thanks!

She will be commissioning as a 1st LT, she already has the med/surg certification and experience, and as a "bonus" of sorts, the Critical Care Course is included in her contract to be attended directly after BOLC, or if slots do not permit, then she gets a spot in the Next available class after BOLC. She was offered quie a few options this happened to be one of them and the one she chose. Being a veteran myself I am aware that the Army can change anything at a moments notice, but so far as per contract she will be granted a slot directly after her BOLC. The said the only way should would not be able to attend directly after BOLC, is if her BOLC ends, and the next crit care course is months away. She would then have to attend TDY or something like that.

That makes sense and she isn't a new grad. Do you have a course date on paper because I know that those slots are filled. When is she suppose to go to OBC?

not sure, we will not know till her orders get cut. judging by previous years, those orders could take until a week or two before the class lol.

quick question to anyone involved. I know your pay and allowances(BAH) start on your report date, but what is the actual timeline of BAH kicking in? Will it definitely come when she gets her first pay, or could BAH potentially be delayed. We one our home in florida, and will be keeping it(just renting it out). She will be in her training for at the very least 9 weeks, so basically two pay cycles. will we be getting BAH for the time that she is in training? and until our name comes up on the housing list of her first duty station?

If I remember correctly, the BAH doesn't start till you in-process at your next duty station cause I would have noticed that bump in my check.

Oh btw...you get atleast an RFO? Cause that should precede the orders, that tells you your course dates and your follow on assignment.

Possibly, she will be going to the recruiter station wednesday or thursday. We will know more then. I will def post it though. Gosh, not having that bah for that long will definitely hurt. she is already taking a pay cut, not having bah to help with the mortgage would blow.

Yeah sorry...the ANC and Amedd is different from the regular Army...just. Remember to have a course date not a general guarantee..when I tell you that the course has a waiting list there is a waiting list...if she isn't already in the system, she is not slotted, there are different branch managers for the courses and the one your recruiter is dealing with is not the CCN branch manager, he is going through the regular 66H new ascensions and that will be her branch manager until she goes to a course of when she promotes to CPT.

I am not sure which branch manager the recruiter has spoke to, basically when the terms went before review(a couple days before the nurse board) they offered her a few things. The only one that did not require an extension to her contract was the CCN course gauarantee, she selected it, it went again before the review, where they accepted the contract. Thats really what we have thus far. After wednesday or thursday we will know alot more, but I will post it here.

I received BAH the whole time I was at BOLC -- the orders are cut as TDY en route to your first duty station, so she should qualify for BAH from the get-go.

Soooo anyone have any very specific answers to my original questions-- details on how to get reimbursed for certification and/or whether the Army will accept *any*

certification.., Thanks for all the responses though!!

stand by chudder I have some forms here that show all accepted certifications. Looking for them now. From memory I know they accept ANCC and CMSRN.
