what is the meaning of the nursing lamp...?

Hi!!! everyone....

Its, BSN Day celebration in our school...I was assigned to research on this... Would anyone pls. tell me what is the meaning of a lamp...and why is this becomes the symbol for nurses all around the globe?

I am in a little bit of a hurry...pls...thank you...

It's supposed to be the lamp that Florence Nightingale carried around the wards in the Crimea. She was known as "The Lady with the lamp".

Maybe it would be useful for you to read her biography, or at least look her up on Google!
