all the schools in my area are on a pts system. Basically applicants are awarded "points" based on different criteria such as classes they've completed, courses completed at that particular school, sometimes experience in the medical field, standardized tests results such as the Hesi or NET test, sometimes you get pts. for living in the same school district as the school, taking a class that's beneficial but not required (like pharmacology, med. terminology, etc...), GPA, and so on.
All of the pts are added up and then the applicants are ranked based on pts. Obviously the applicants with the most pts. get it. Make sense?

my school is also on a point system....depending on the classes u have taken and the grade rec'd u get points for ex. an A in Ana and phy gives u 8 point..if u took it @ my school u get another .25 point..then if u live in the same county (this is a comm college)..then u get 2 more points..lastly depending on how many years ago u started will give u more points..
