I have been researching team training for the MDS 3.0, to include the business office, dietary, activity, social service, rehab staff, etc. but am finding this lacking. We did have a webinar scheduled but it was cancelled for "lack of interest". I thought the training folks would be crawling all over us to sign up. I personally have my re-cert. seminar scheduled so that's not a problem but what about the non-nursing folks? We've pre-ordered our manuals so they'll be here "on time" and I've started with the interviewing technique training but I'm feeling inadequate. Any suggestions?

ALL Disciplines must be trained on the 3.0. Do you work for a corporation? If so, what does the corporation require? Sounds to me like your facility wants to dump the entire interviewing requirements on you.....Get your Administrator involved with this issue.
I must have given the wrong impression. No, everyone is involved in the interviews, and actually I did find what I've been seeking and we start in a week.

where did you find your training for other disciplines? we are going to the CMS/Meyers Stauffer training for NC. But wow is it crazy trying to get these people to think "new". have you found any creative ways for this implementation??

Our company did a train the trainer, then we went back to the buildings and did specific discipline training. I think it's a little early, as things keep changing. They are putting the 7.5% wt loss back for the three month look back, and they actually did that modification while I was training the dietary staff.
Also of note, the changes no longer require an act of Congress (literally) as they did before, and when CMS sees that we are all stepping up our Restorative Programs,(as an example, use anything that affects RUG levels) to increase our share of the pie, reimbursement will change accordingly. It is going to be interesting to see how they are able to balance what they pay with what we do. Most companies have gamed the system for a long time, and now the system will be able to fight back. It wouldn't surprise me if they try to go to a DRG type system after a couple of years of this.
