MDS in LTC salary

hi all. I'm an RN looking at a position as MDS coordinator in a 200 bed LTC nursing home. Does anyone have an idea what the average salary is? I live in Upstate/Western NYS. thanks!

I wonder how you made out? Im in MA and am interviewing for a MDS coordinator position next week.......career bulider says median salary in this area 44/hr hmmmm???

$44/HR?! I would love that! In in WI and only make just over $28/hr.

Ok, I have a slightly different take on this question, since RN salaries in general vary so greatly geographically.

What do MDS coordinators earn at your facility compared to floor nurses at the same facility?

I am an LPN and was an MDS nurse for a corporation owned LTC/SNF for 2 years (2014-2016) in the Tulsa, OK area. When I was hired, our corporate director told me I should start at $1 more per hour than what a floor nurse was making (I had no MDS experience). I hired on at $19/hour. Locally LTC/SNF LPN jobs that I have seen advertise $18-19/hr.

I actually didn't apply for the MDS position I currently have. I interviewed for a floor nurse position. When they offered the MDS position to me instead the difference in pay I think was $2-$3 more than a floor nurse. I do still work the floor at least once a week as well. However the MDS aspect of my job was only supposed to be part time. Well the other person who is supposed to be doing it the rest of the time hasn't done anything with it in months. I don't even bother telling her what needs to be done when I'm off. The last time I did her response was "who do we have next week?" I told her and then she said "oh well I'm not going to do it then." So instead of her doing something on the Friday and Monday I was gone she did absolutely nothing and I had to rush through it on Tuesday when I returned. I stopped asking after that. And I know she's making WAY more than I am.

I'm currently looking to change jobs. It's a small facility so it isn't always busy and I get bored easily. Plus I'm tired of being treated like crap and used while someone else takes the credit.
