MDS training/certification

Hi, I recently discovered that I as an LPN could in fact work in this aspect of nursing and have since became very interested. My question is this, where can I go online to get the training/certification for MDS work? I have googled it and I have only come acroos once site where you can either attend a live seminar for 2 days or take the same seminar and veiw it online - but am thinking there is more to it then just watching something on the computer. I am wondering if anyone knows of anything else that I can look up to get this training/certification? I will not be doing it right now - but will once I find out how much it costs me so I can save up. Thank you, and I'm in Wisconsin - not sure if that matters much.

Thank you in advance,

Ann Schneeberger

When I was new at MDS, I took a short introductory course before I took a certification course. It really helped me understand the bigger program. It may be an advantage for newbies or anyone who wants to understand it, even DON's and Administrators, to do this. It will take some time to search, but my DON and the other newbie MDS coordinator found one and they thought it was great. I am sure there are more out there. I think they were TrainingInMotion.org. Good luck to you.

Hi Everyone

I am thinking about taking the MDS certification. I am an MSN, and thinking about advancing my career to become an DON/ADON, would the MDS certification be helpful for applying the DON/ADON positions?

Thank you for your time

My Boss is willing to let me take the CPRA course, in this case it is offered thru HCPro Inc. I took the MDS Boot Camp they offer online last year and I would say it was pretty good, but would have been a better option if I had worked more in MDS before I took it. They also offer 2 or 3 day live seminars if you prefer that. The book they give you is great and it goes thru each aspect of the RAI manual and breaks everything down to help you understand it better. They also have 2 hours of open call time included in which you call and speak with the experts to ask your questions.

I am wondering if there is any differance in the MDS certification offered by other companies. Meaning is the certification called something different through other programs?
