So... until the shorter Grace days take affect, 5 day: can it be done AFTER the 8th day? say, on the 9th? for the 14 th? Grace days are until what day? 30 day and 60 day, same question.

We just had a webinar about the changes this week....

Sorry that I don't remember what the acceptable days are....

We were told, I believe, that any ARD's on/after 10/1/11 must be changed otherwise there will be default days.

It's too much....can't keep up the way it is now....

And what's this stuff about doing ANOTHER MDS when there's a change in the Rehab RUG??

Now we will be babysitting the Rehab Dept as well!! :crying2:

At my facility we will start the new schedule the last week of September..We have this week started setting our 14D on day 13 to get into the habit....So this is how we do it: 5D on day 8, 14 D on day13, 30 D on day 29, 60 D on day 59 and day 90 on day 89...The way I understand it, all PPS will start a COT assessment the day starting after the last ARD & if it is a change in level, a COT will be done on the 7th day...if no change then no further assessment, but the next COT assessment period will start...All PPS will always be in assessment period, just not all will actually require an assessment...Seems pretty confusing:(

Thanks very much for the update, appreciate it!

Hi.

Re: COT

Yes, we have to evaluate the NEED FOR a COT OMRA each 7 day period following a rehab RUG assessment. Day 1 is day after ARD.

We can only be SURE if COT is needed (rehab RUG goes up or down) on day 8.

If needed, ARD must be day 7.

You can set ARD FOR A SCHEDULED assessment before a COT might be due.

It is truly a confusing and burdensome system.

AHCA is offering a free webinar this Wednesday. Maybe a different explanation will clarify. Go to AHCANCAL.com website and look around for education programs.
