Hello everyone! This thread is for folks applying to Columbia's MDE/DNP program for the 2023 start.
Feel free to introduce yourself, ask questions and offer guidance and support to other candidates. Please be respectful and kind and remember that this is a long, exhausting, expensive, stressful journey for lots of people. Let's do our best to uplift and help each other. Good luck!
I can only speak as someone who was accepted to the MDE portion, but I have not seen any financial information included in my initial acceptance letter. I was under the impression that they would reach back out to us in 10-15 business days as stated in the acceptance letter, so I have been just waiting.
I will also be attending the financial session next week as well!

I suppose I should have asked whether anyone has already heard about *other* scholarships, or whether we can hope there may be additional merit aid in our financial aid notifications. I'm planning to attend the finaid session next week, but thought I'd see what others know/have heard so far.
Ah okay, sorry about that. I'm not sure of other ones

It states in the acceptance letter that financial aid and scholarships will be released 10-15 business days after the acceptance letter.

Hi @fngioino I will be applying for Summer 2024 entry. Could I connect so I can ask you questions about the application process? I saw you posted to a old forum asking the same thing, and I wanted to reach out and see if you could offer any advice.
hey guys wanted to provide some advice for those interested
I was in the DNP program last year, but dropped and transferred to another program in nyc.
for what it offers, Columbia is EXTREMELY expensive. the program from the start was very disorganized, sometimes they didn't even have instructors to teach the courses and would throw in random faculty members at the last minute.
There are many better options out there. don't fall for the Columbia name like I did.
not to mention rent in NYC is outrageous; luckily I found a place in Long Island City which is a short commute to the new program I am currently in
just wanted to give y'all some advice before committing to a super expensive program

Did you complete the MDE portion? Also, what specialty were you in for the DNP portion? Thank you for this!

I completed the MDE portion at Columbia (this is essentially where you get your BSN; definitely not worth the tuition. I regret going here, just do this portion at any State school for half the price)
I was offered a seamless scholarship for the DNP,but it was still super expensive, especially if you have debt from the MDE program.
I attended about 1 semester then transferred out to another school. also pediatrics!
I have a few friends who are still at Columbia for their DNP (FNP and pmhnp) and they are also complaining and contemplating about transferring

@em ruizHow much total aid did you get from Columbia (not including loans)? Did you advocate for yourself to get more money to attend this school? They seem to have a lot of funding opportunities at the school (merit, need-based, etc). Did you look into those? I am trying to get a bigger picture of how much money they offer to students.

Thank you for your insight! Definitely rethinking this now
