McKesson to AllScripts! Any Resources out there?

Hi everyone!

So my hospital is transitioning from McKesson with Clinical Care Station over to AllScripts. We've had McKesson for the past 5 years or so, but this EHR was only used on the inpatient side of the hospital. The other side, that being the Emergency Department, had another EHR, and the two systems never communicated. Why, you ask, was this an arrangement that was though up? I have no idea, but it usually comes down to cost and what those in higher positions say they will be using.

My role currently is in Nursing Informatics, or being a superuser at this time, due to the fact that our department only consists of a handful of us, about 6 superusers. I just got into this role about 2 months ago and have been immersing myself within McKesson so that I can, hopefully, become some sort of an expert on the system so that I can help nurses when they get stumped. My background is in the ED at this same hospital. I put 3 years into the ED here and actually had a pleasant time with their EHR. It's dead simple, has rarely any issues that I've experienced and I felt very comfortable teaching it to new staff and registry when they worked with us.

Now that I've learned this new system (to me anyways) and have been able to guide nurses when in need, this is now the time that the hospital decides to change it all up again for me.

My hospital is now transitioning from McKesson to AllScritps!

I wanted to know if anyone out there has any educational resources or any tips and tricks for using this new system. We as superusers have started playing around with a test environment of the system, but still have much to learn before we start to teach the rest of the nurses in the hospital.

If anyone has any experience, advice of well wishes, please drop them here :)

I've read reviews about the use of AllScripts in different nursing fields and have seen varied reviews. Please let me know what you guys think of AllScripts!

Thank you very much!

HAPPY NURSES WEEK!!!

Hi La - Allscripts has a very resourceful site "Client Connect". There you can find a lot of information about the particular Allscript's product your organization will be implementing.
