Acceptance to Muhlenberg school of nursing
Hi, I saw your older post about being accepted to Muhlenberg Nursing School. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing your experience there. I have applied to the LPN Bridge program. Just curious as to what it was like.

How to chose your LPN program
The first clinical site we went to was a nursing home on chancellor avenue. No you can't choose what site you go to. As far as working part time that is an individual decision. There are some people that work but they find it a bit more challenging as far as managing their time for studying. I am not working and I'm glad I was blessed not to have to work while in the program. Also, I went through unemployment for this nursing program. They paid for everything books, uniforms and tuition. I don't know if they still offer the program but you should check into it. I don't know what town you from so depending on what town your from that is the unemployment office you would go to for that information. I don't know how many students they are accepting this year. But my class has only 10 students. That might be a low number because most people dont want to do an LPN program, everyone goes for the RN. For me personally the LPN program was I better choice for me because its easier to bridge to RN without taking the entrance exam again, and also the fact that I would be licensed to work sooner that the RN program. I couldn't afford to be out of work longer that 12 months. However, with that said becoming a LPN limits your choices of employment, since LPN's many work nursing homes. I am okay with that because I just need to get my foot in the door gain experience that would make me more marketable when I do get my RN licencse. At least that is my thought process whether it works out like that only GOD can answer that. Please stop apologizing for asking me questions I really don't mind. There is also an LPN program at New Community you might want to look into that as well. If I were you I would apply at more than one place, just in case you don't get into your first choice.

How to chose your LPN program
The entrance exam I would say was not so much as hard but very time constricting. I had alot of physics on mine and the reading portion was difficult. The passages were a difficult read, then you didn't have enough time to answer. At the end of my exam I had to pick anything because I had about 20 questions left with only two minutes to answer them. If you look on Essex county web site and go into the nursing section, it tells you what book to purchase for the exam. The test I had covered almost everything in that book. However, I don't know if they are using the same test. I definitely wish you good luck. and I know you will do fine.

How to chose your LPN program
Hi Skim11, Yes I did go to essex county actually I'm still there this is my third semester one to go. Overall I would say that the program is good. Very challenging because everything is condensed, alot of information in a short time span. The professors are great. The lpn program there is small and intimate which I like. The nursing director also teaches and she is very supportive. The other thing that is a plus is that by the 2nd week of your first semester you will be doing clinicals. I think you should definitely apply for the fall. Oh one more thing since I been there. The two classes that were before mine have all taken and passed the Nclex. Be prepared to be stress out a little. learn how to manage your time. The book that they use sucks, so I would look for other resources to help you. I will tell you the book that I use it was very helpful. I can't think of it off hand I will post it later. Good Luck. I will see you when you get there. I finish in October.

Anyone attended New Community workforce development center LPN school in New Jersey?
Hi, Have anyone found out anything yet about New Community Workforce LPN program

How to chose your LPN program
I'm currently scheduled to take the entrance exam for Essex County College LPN program. I have also applied to New Community Workforce Development LPN program. Not sure which one to go for. Need some help, I don't know how to chose the right program. Essex County cost about 9,000 not including books and uniforms. New Community cost 12,000 not including books and uniforms. New Community program hires about 40% of the graduates in a nursing home environment. Essex County doesn't have any type of placement program that I know about. However, if you want to advance, Essex County has lpn - rn articulation. New Community does not, not even sure if NCC courses are transferrable. Any kind of input would be greatly appreciated.

Haven't posted anything in awhile. Still don't know how to get around the forum. I have a few questions- how do you send a message to someone on your friend list. I have to open an old posts to send this one, I don't think that the way to go. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Next question- I am scheduled to take the NLN exam for Essex County College LPN program. Has anyone gone through this program. Would you recommend the program. Also, I am scheduled to take New Community Workforce LPN entrance exam. Not sure what is the better fit. Not sure how to even decipher what is better or not. PhonixTech trying to reach you. Just don't know how. If you read this please respond so that we can get back in touch.

LPN or RN
Thank for the reply. I think what you said makes alot of sense. My actual career goal is to become an nurse educator. It hard sometimes to know what the correct path is to take. Everyone I talk to has so many different views. I don't really know anything about the LTC facilities, but based on some of the comments I see posted, it seems as though that area is not really desireable. Is working in LTC facility a terrible thing? Do you have any suggestions as to how I can find out more about what particular field of nursing I would like to work in? How does one know exactly what field they want to work in. And do you have a choice in this now since the economy is so bad?
