MCI Virginia Beach!!!!

U.S.A. Virginia

Hey I found out last night, I got into the days RN program:yeah:, i was just wondering if there is anyone else on here who did????

please do not attend this school Va beach campus it is trely not worth it, i did the PN program and still have not pass the Nclex I have spent about alot money on ther program. it was the worst school I have ever came in contact with. Sentara I heard was one of the best fast-pace schools in this area.

I'm hoping to attend MCI's Richmond campus in January, but I have a few questions. Do I have to take the pre-reqs before I can apply to MCI or do I take those as part of the program 15 months.

I believe you take them right before the program starts, cause you have to past them before you enter the program. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, the classes are free unless you fail them then you have to pay a $200 fee.

Please do not be discouraged by what others experiences were with MCI. In the Kaplan review class I took, we had people who graduated from ODU and NSU who had to take their N-CLEX for the 4th time, but that doesnt mean that those two universities are bad schools either. It is an individual thing and one person's experience does not account for a whole group. I graduated from the RN program in April and passed the N-CLEX RN the first time with the minimum questions (75) 33 days after graduation. We only had one person from our class not pass the N-CLEX the first time because this person had some personal things going on. The program is very difficult, but i did it, never failed a class, and worked full time the whole time.

The LPN program has different teachers and a different director and assistant director than the RN program. The teachers and directors also vary by campus. I can only attest to the RN program at MCI VA Beach, but if I had to do it again, i probably would.

Hope this helps. Feel free to PM me any additional questions......

Could you please send me your notes for AP 1 and 2 if you have some and Chem. I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to get started early. I will be attending the evening program if I get in at VA beach. I have prior nursing experience as a student I went to a univ in TX but I am in the military and a single parent so that took a toll on me in the 3rd semester. I have the clinical experience and study technique but this is a different school and teachers so I still have my guard up. Thanks!!

Hi everyone,

I am an LPN at Chesapeake Regional for the last 6 years on a Med Surg floor but I have a total of 14 years experience as an LPN, having graduated from a Vo tech school in NY in 1996. Getting my RN has been a long, arduous road for me. I do have university credits for Psychology, Sociology, Basic Math, Biology, Foreign Language, Political Science, Both English Compositions requirements--albeit they are from 1994-1995. I was once a student at Excelsior College and even made the huge mistake of signing up with the College Network when I moved to Virginia (which is such a scam) only to add it to my bankruptcy file (thats another long story) I am going to be 34 years old in a few days and I just need to get this chapter of my life completed---kind of like the bucket list thing. Chesapeake Regional is pressing hard for Magnet Status ( a high percentage of RN's need to have their BSN's) and most of us old time LPN's have been certified as LPN II's, which means we push IV meds and do a lot of things the RN's do with a few exceptions (Charge Nurse being one of them) I am pretty much at the top of my pay scale, too.

I am seriously considering MCI in Virginia Beach. I know the cost is exorbitant but the appeal is hopefully being able to transfer credits and possibly challenge exams and graduating in 15-18 months.

I've been scouring these message boards for hours and would love to hear some updates/advice/pros/cons from folks out there about MCI's ADN RN program.

Thanks so much!

Can I hear about some people who went to MCI - and what their job is like now? Have they had a hard time getting a job? Do they have lower pay compared to a 4-year BSN student?
