Is there anyone who has any insight into the work culture for APNs at the Mayo Clinic (particularly in AZ)? How are the benefits?

To add to what the OP asked..how likely is Mayo to hire a new grad?

Mayo Clinic has the ability to be very picky because they are so popular. They usually will not hire you unless you apply to their Graduate Nurse Position. They can get anywhere from 250

Mayo Clinic really likes their internal candidates. Like most places Mayo has it's own culture and I think they like knowing that you are familiar with it, as this will likely increase your chances of success. NP's and PA's are pretty interchangeable with some services seemingly preferring one to the other, however the roles are the same once you are working. It is a physician lead institution and they take that seriously, physicians sign off on everything a NP does, however most physicians are not condescending and are very happy to have you on their team. I think that pay is typically a little lower than you might find at other places, it's a tiered system with little room for negotiation. It seems like they plug you into a formula and out comes a number that they will pay. Benefits are great and you will have every resource you could imagine, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in research and hospital wide initiatives, if that's your thing. It's a big teaching institution and most everyone loves to teach, they attract some of the smartest physicians in the country and in some cases the world, you will learn a lot.

No clue on APN. I do know the Mayo thinks their feces does not stink.

They are just like any other facility.. but expect special recognition based on the name.

I accepted a travel assignment there.. took out the garbage and washed the floors.
