Members are discussing their experiences with the interview process at Mayo Clinic, specifically for positions in ICU/ED and PCU/Med surg. Some members have received offers, while others are still waiting to hear back or have been denied in a vague manner. There is also discussion about the staffing situation at Mayo Clinic Phoenix and the potential challenges faced by nurses there.
Hello,
For those who applied for Mayo's Nurse Residency in AZ during the application window of March 4-7th, & did the video recording interview, have you heard from Mayo for a 2nd interview?

Yeah they were smiling too LOL I felt so nervous as well! Hopefully we found out soon! Hope to see you as well!
I think offers will go out by first or second week of May. I got an offer already but mainly cause I got CIP (educational reimbursement) for all my semesters of nursing school and I have to work there for two years. Not to discourage anyone but Mayo Clinic Phoenix Campus staffing is becoming very bad. It's like banner staffing with Mayo Clinic patient care expectation. Nurse are getting burned out. I heard that two weeks ago some nurses did not get reports and walked away once they saw their assignment of 5-6 patients per one RN.

I have not heard back. My status still says "under consideration" so hoping for the best!!

I know Mayo just offer about 20 positions for the new RN residency program on each cohort and they get hundred of applicants. I also know they give priority to those who work at Mayo already, have good yearly appraisals, and get education reimbursement for their nursing degree. After giving the positions to those, then they select outside applicants (mainly with a BSN). I know is late to say this but your chances are greater if you work at Mayo already or volunteer. You could also go and work somewhere else for six months and come back and apply but not as a new graduate. Also if you know someone who works there you could ask them to give referrals about you. It's hard to get in and even more if you don't know anyone. It took me three job interviews to get my current job but it's worth it. I love working here and I have worked all the main hospitals in the valley.
Don't get discouraged. If it doesn't happen this Summer maybe end of year.
Thank you for the advice and for sharing that. Do you currently work as a PCA? I wonder what other job position I can I apply for?

No I have never worked at Mayo Clinic im from east coast. But I know it's a reputable and has great residency program and I am moving to Arizona so I knew I had to apply so hopefully it works out! I honestly do not know what to expect and it's my last semester for nursing school and of all these four years I'm feeling imposter syndrome as it is getting closer to graduating and getting closer to NCLEX... also when are you guys planning on taking NCLEX or have you guys already?
