I'm looking to move to Arizona when I finish CRNA school, but I know the job opportunities are scarce there. I have heard that the Mayo Clinic hires CRNAs. Does anyone know anything about the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, specifically the anesthesia group? Any info. about hospitals in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area would be helpful.

I live in Scottsdale and do not know much about the use of CRNA's at Mayo. I work in the Scottsdale Healthcare Hospital System, and they too do not use them, and after speaking with an anesthesiologist just the other day, they don't ever plan to.....But, I do believe that they use CRNA's at Arizona Heart Hospital and St. Joseph's....

I had surgery a few years ago at Mayo in Scottsdale. A CRNA did my anesthesia. I remember hearing at the time that Mayo only uses CRNAs for anesthesia. But I don't remember where/who I heard this from so who knows how accurate?
This was at Mayo Hospital in Phoenix.

The CRNA's at the AZ Mayo are TIGHTLY supervised. The MDAs want you to call before giving Ephedrine. THe MD pushes your drugs and talks to the patient as they go off to sleep.
Aaahhh, so are there any decent places in AZ to work??! The boyfriend's family is in Scottsdale and he desperately wants to move back; I would also like a change of pace and warmer weather!!

I live in Arizona and have done many clinical rotations for my nursing degree through many of the valleys hospitals. Banner Healthcare uses them in their OB departments Good Sam, Banner Mesa, and Banner Desert for sure. Arizona Heart, County, and the VA all use them as well. I work for the Scottdale Healthcare System and have only seen a CRNA once for a surgery that a OMF sugery liked to use.
