Maybe I should quit

Maybe nursing isnt for me. For what seems all my life, I have been emotionally abused and even now as a pharmacy tech. Why would I want to work as a nurse and continue being emotionally abused by patients, other nurses and doctors. :(

I'm sorry you feel that way...

have you ever considered seeking therapy for your history of abuse? I would definitely consider that.

As far as the workplace goes, you can't take things too personally and you shouldn't tolerate disrespect. No reason for a hostile work environment and everyone makes mistakes.

And, alas, there will always be some people that criticize even Mother Teresa. For the rest of us mere non-saints, we need to develop a way to respond criticism even if it's unwarranted. Therapy could help you with that.

Yes maybe I can find some free therapy classes at my school. I do struggle with anxiety and deep depression as well.

I would definitely look into that. A lot of schools do have counselors that you can talk to. Professional help would probably be something for you to look into as well.

You just have to deal with it and have a thick skin. Maybe nursing isn't for you because you have to be kind, yet tough. You can't be a sensitive snowflake that cries easily and gets offended easily. Don't take anything the patients say personally. They don't know the real you. Patients tend to lash out when they are worried, stressed, scared or in pain. It comes with the job. It's hard to take that kind of harsh criticism from coworkers and superiors. I've just come to accept the fact that most doctors have big egos and that's the way it is.
