May accept home health position..

I just interviewed for a home health position, I was offered the job, but I am worried about loosing my clinical skills. I have med surg and er backgrounds. Home health seems really exciting, but I am worried that if I dont like it, I will have a hard time getting hired back into the hospital. Is there anyone out there with any pros or cons on home health that can hekp me, I am trying to decide what to do?

I really enjoyed home health. I loved my patients, mostly oldies, but I got a lot of wound care experience, feeding tubes, foleys, etc. I met a lot of fine people, worked for some great folks, I enjoyed the quiet time charting, the hours with only ME in my car, and no one ragging on me. If you do work home health, I hope it will be a good experience for you. Oh, yes, there were some post surgical patients as well.

if you are somewhat of a loner and don't like all the gossip and hospital politics, then you will love home health.....that was the biggest plus for me....i did home health for years then moved south and wanted to do something else...went to psych, which I love but still have to put up with the gabby nurses, know-it-alls, etc. and H. politics again,,,,,I am debating on whether to go back to home health, also. I am older now and want to just go PRN maybe 2 days a week...wonder if that would work out in H.H. ?? also rusty on some skills, too.
