Hello-
I am a hospice social worker who does work on a contracted basis and was recently informed by an agency that there is a medicare standard that prohibits me from documenting that I completed more than 6 pt visits in a day for a particular agency. This was a shock to me as I've been doing hospice for several years and was unaware of the rule.not sure if i just didn't know, someone failed to inform me earlier or if the agency i work for is mistakenly holding me to a rule designed for full time staff or another discipline. I am very careful to document visits on an hourly basis and allow ample time for travel in between visits but in actuality i usually try to do 8-12 visits per day when i work...6 would be impossible for me to get my work done in a month! Can someone inform me of the Medicare standard before i start revamping my entire work schedule to accomodate this agency.
Thanks!

I am unaware of any rules of that nature.
Perhaps you could ask your employer to provide you a copy of those rules so that you can educate yourself and be more proactive.

I just asked my coworker, a social worker with hospice for 10 years, if he was aware of any such rule and he said no. Sounds like you are being manipulated.
