Hi there. I am looking for assistance with a math question. I’ve never seen a question like this.
Order: Digoxin 0.03 mg (of 0.05 mg/ml solution =0.6 ml) PO every 12 hours times three doses. How many mg of digoxin has the MD ordered for your patient in a 24 hours period?

You’re making this too hard. What dose are you giving? It’s right there in your question. If you are giving it every 12 hours how often would that be in a 24 hour period? Now do the math.

0.06? I assumed that I was probably overthinking it however the wording three times the doses made me unsure
You are correct. All those extra words and numbers are called “distractors”. You will find most nursing math questions are loaded with them. Get used to ignoring all that extra information or you will start tearing your hair out. Nursing math is not at all difficult. Don’t make it harder than it is. ?

Thank you! Truly appreciate it
