Dose Desired: 7.5 mg/500mLDose on Hand: 60 mg/10 mL 7.5 mg (dose desired)/60 mg (dose on hand) x 10 mL (amount of solution the dose on hand comes in) = 1.25 mL of the drug solution should be added to the bag of NS.Dose Desired: 10mg/kg/dayDose on Hand: 250mg/5mLPatient's Weight: 75 lbs.Conversion Factor: 1 kg = 2.2 lbsConversion Factor (for q6h of doses): 4 doses per day 10 mg/kg (dose desired) x 75 lb/1 day (patient's weight/dose desired per day) x 1 kg/2.2 lb (conversion factor) x 5 mL/250 mg (dose on hand) = 6.81 mg/day (dose to give for a day) Then, 6.81 mg/day (dose to give in 24 hours) x 1 day/4 doses (number of doses in 24 hours) = 1.74045 mg/dose, or rounded off to 1.7 mg/dose (amount to give with each q6h dose)
Thanks! Thats what I came up with too. Just wanted to be sure since we didnt have an answer sheet! The study group we have, half of them had that answer and the other half had another. L:ast question was a rounding issue for a few.
But I really do apperciate your help!!!
